Hefin David AM visits Ian in Caerphilly
Ian had a visitor today at his workplace the Spar in Trethomas – Caerphilly Assembly Member Hefin David came to talk to him about the Engage to Change project and how it has had a positive impact on his life. You may remember that a couple of months ago Hefin asked Carwyn Jones about Engage to Change and provision for inclusive work-based learning during First Minister’s Questions at the Welsh Assembly.
Hefin has followed this up with his visit to Ian to see first-hand the impact of the project on young people with a learning disability and/or autism. Ian has now been working at the Spar since May, and by all accounts has fitted into the Spar team fantastically! Well done Ian.
Hefin also had the chance to hear from Ian’s manager at the Spar, Jenny, who praised the one-to-one support provided by Engage to Change in the form of a job coach. He also heard from Chris English of ELITE about the legacy and lasting change we hope to establish through Engage to Change.
We would like to thank Hefin for his support and for using his voice in the Assembly to advocate for the project.
