How do you feel about your time on the Engage to Change DFN Project SEARCH programme?
I really liked being on this course as it’s given me the chance to feel what a job would be like and working in a university environment.
What internships have you done since you started Engage to Change DFN Project SEARCH?
I have stayed in the chemistry department for the three internships as my bosses wanted to keep me as they didn’t think I would have learned enough skills for just one internship. And that I have done a good job when I was working there.
What has been your favourite internship and why?
Chemistry has be my favourite internship as I’ve liked working with the people in the chemistry department and I have got a job out of it.
Describe some of the tasks you carried out during the year.
One of the tasks I did was being the chairman at our Christmas party. My role was helping out people with their tasks and reminding them about their deadlines.
How has it helped you to be on Engage to Change DFN Project SEARCH and what have you learned during the year?
Project SEARCH has help me bring out my confidence and also having the experience of what a job would be like.
How have Lily (job coach), Kerri and Bev (college instructors) helped you during the year? What kind of support have you had from them?
I have had support with job application, my internships and the job I have got from Chemistry.
What kind of jobs are you applying for and have you been successful yet?
I have been applying for Lab Technician jobs and I have been successful as I have gotten a job with Cardiff University in the Chemistry department.
Now that Engage to Change DFN Project SEARCH is coming to an end, what would you like to do, or what do you plan to do in the future?
I would like to save up my money for driving lessons, holiday and maybe a flat.
